I Am Always Writing About Teeth

Conflict marked by silence and performative non-reactivity

A residual habit learned from a man before you

You could take a set of pliers

Pull out all of my teeth with more efficiency

Than you could bleed out the tenderness that lives in my heart

To show my hand feels fatal

I will open my mouth wide

As I cross my arms against my chest

I can survive without a smile
